New Computer

Hi all,


I am in the market for a new computer. I am searching for something strictly for producing. I was thinking about maybe getting a 3.2ghz processor,and maybe like 2gb-4gb ram? is this a good set up, and can anyone tell me what they have or recommend.Or any useful information I have failed to post Thanks

Yeah wot you have said sound good enough to me , i currently use a dell 2.6 dual core 4g ram and it works really well can normally get around 10 vsts before cpu starts to go , than i would normally render certain channels down or freeze instruments which is alot better than the comp i had before .

Generally, there is no true way to define what spec. you'll need to run a -specific- amount of a track.

If I could give you any advice, it would be that you'll need to neck out as high a limit you can. If you have no limit, why are we still talking, go buy a custom!

If you're making music as a hobby, I'd suggest grabbing something with 2-4gb ram. If you're looking to produce professionally, you'll need a PC to match your average tracks/song. Like mastering, this can only be told by learning a great deal of your style and it's effect on PC's.

yea I intend to produce proffesionally,, sowhhat should I go for..

Hi all, first post here

I've various PC stuff lying around and in general find although a good spec PC helps.. turning off all the un-needed crap that is usually enabled when you receive the thing can make the difference between a load of CPU hungry stuff working or the whole thing falling dead on it's feet

I've only ever got 2nd User or B stock Dell stuff from their factory outlet. I've only ever put cheap Ebay DD2 Ram in it ( now to the tune of 4GB ) . I've never used an external Graphic card ( although now I have a large TFT , I see the benifit )

What I do spend the time doing & it's payed off when I'm running a load of VST instruments and effects, is to make sure all un- needed windows services are off, all un-needed hardware is disabled and the PC registry is clean. The thing never gets a network connection and XP SP2 is as far as it's ever gonna be upgraded in the forseeable future.

I find the musicXP.com & tweakXP.com sites great for this..

and thankfully as the new Syncrosoft LC enables you to move E-licenses from PC's onto Dongles , I have never had to connect the machine to the Net .. & never will..

Technology improve well features in the computer system and facilities. There are different types of computer which on different rates and configurations. It is depending on your budget to choose which configured computer system.

Any PC that have a 3Ghz proccesor and at least 4GB of RAM is a good PC.I hope you make the right decision.
